Membership

National Level

Membership in the COSWRIM at the national level is open to sex worker-led community-based organizations of all genders in Nigeria.

State Level

At the state level, membership may also include sex worker-led groups and individual sex worker activists who are not affiliated with any organization.

Requirements for Sex Worker-Led Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to Be Eligible for Membership:

  • The CBO must have been in operation for at least one year prior to applying for COSWRIM membership, with evidence of activities (either programmatic or financial) during that period.
  • The CBO must provide verified Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration documents or evidence of an on-going application process, along with its membership list.
  • For new member applications, the CBO must include an approved constitution or other documentation outlining its terms and conditions, along with a bank receipt for NGN20,000 as a registration fee.
  • All COSWRIM members must undergo an annual membership renewal process outlined in the Membership Guidelines.
  • Prospective new members must complete and submit an application package as outlined in the Membership Guidelines.
  • Membership renewal and new member applications will be reviewed and approved by the National Steering Committee (NSC).
Note: The NSC has the discretion to grant observer status for one year to emerging organizations that do not fully meet the membership criteria at the time of application. Further details on observer privileges and responsibilities will be provided in the Membership Guidelines.

Membership Guideline

  • The Membership Guidelines will specify annual membership fees for both renewing and new members.
  • These guidelines will be reviewed and updated every four (4) years by the NSC and adopted at the board of trustees.
